About The Orchard Rose… Hello, my name is Bec, I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, Supervisor and Health Coach.
I spent the first 15 years of my career working in government organisations, in multidisciplinary teams within the Child Protection and Criminal legal systems.
My experience was primarily providing trauma-informed case management and support for children and adults who experienced significant personal violence, abuse and neglect.
I gained experience as a team leader and senior practitioner, providing supervision and mentoring for child protection staff.
For the past few years, I have been in private practice, providing counselling and clinical supervision services.
I am an External supervisor and Field Education Liaison Officer (FELO) for Social Work and Community Services students completing their 3rd and 4th year field placements.
I believe clinical supervision and Health and wellness coaching compliment one another very well, which is why I created The Orchard Rose – a safe, educative and supportive space for women working in Social Work, case work or other human services professions.
About you
The Orchard Rose is for women working in the helping profession such as Social Workers, case workers and other human services professions.
For you, putting your safety, health and wellbeing on the line every day is ‘part of the job’. Whether it be from responding to Child Protection or domestic violence reports, navigating the legal and medical systems or anything else….you do this work to help others.
Day after day, you prioritise other peoples needs, you help people to feel safe and empowered to change their lives. But at the same time, you take on secondary trauma, exhausting energy and frustration of the system….which can leave you feeling disempowered in your own career (and life).
Does this resonate with you?
You entered into the profession because you CARE and you are dedicated. Maybe you know what it feels like to be in the shoes of your client? You feel the need to help these people, in any way you can.
Or maybe you’re an advocate for people that don’t have a voice? Perhaps you have survivor guilt or just want to make a difference in the world.
Whatever your reason, you just want to help people.
I UNDERSTAND what this can feel like!
What can happen as a result of all your effort and care, in an environment where you may not be adequately supported?
Burnout, compassion fatigue, vicarious or secondary trauma to name a few.
Maybe you are already aware of this? But are you aware that ongoing stress can cause hormone imbalances and other significant health issues? It can also have a detrimental impact on your relationships, cause a lack of motivation, or sense of directionless in your career….amongst many other things.
What can help?
Having external supervision, mentoring or coaching can really help get you back on track with your health and wellbeing, confidence and help guide you toward the perfect career path that is best for you!
You already receive supervision from your manager? That’s ok, your ‘in house’ supervision has to place a great deal of focus on your case loads, KPIs, staff training, etc. Whilst these are all important, we sometimes get lost in our ‘job title’ and lose who we are as a person, within the profession.
This is where external supervision or coaching comes in.
As an external supervisor, mentor and coach, I want to know about YOU.
Just you, as an individual.
What are your health and wellbeing needs?
What do you want to work on in terms of improving your confidence?
What are your career aspirations? (by the way, these may have nothing to do with your current role).
If you have been thinking about this and want to learn more, book in a free 20 minute call for a chat. I would love to hear from you.
